The Pickle Fund is the scholarship fund of the Bruce Hunt Moeckel Foundation. Here's its story:

Our Dad, Dr. Moeckel, always wanted to attend medical school. The only problem was that he couldn't afford it. And so, among other jobs, he worked at a pickle factory saving all that he could earn. To save money, our Dad even lived in his car at one point.

He went on to graduate second in his class at Boston University Medical School and complete his residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC, eventually opening an orthopedic practice in CT with surgery centers around the state.

THE PICKLE FUND

But this scholarship fund is not just about our Dad. It's about the countless stories of men and women like him--of people who give their all, who work job after job in the hopes of achieving something. Working hard for promise down the road is not always glamorous, but it's the essence of our Dad's story and legacy.

That's what the Pickle Fund is all about.

If you have a similar story and are paying any part of your tuition by holding a job, you are encouraged to apply.
